Leaf it to Mowgli to tell the tale of tackling the climate crisis.

Abu Dhabi is no stranger to exciting events. Be it world-class concerts, sporting spectacles or cultural festivals, the capital always knows how to put on a show. But this time around, things are about to get a little wilder. Get ready, because Rudyard Kipling’s much-loved classic The Jungle Book is swinging into town with an unexpected twist.

Taking place on 4 and 5 April at the Cultural Foundation, Jungle Book Reimagined promises a bold and breathtaking dance-theatre performance. But don’t expect the usual story of Mowgli and his jungle pals because this is The Jungle Book like you’ve never seen before.

Directed by Akram Khan, Jungle Book Reimagined dives deep into Rudyard Kipling’s original narrative but brings it into the 21st century.

Jungle Book Reimagined

You’ll still follow Mowgli’s adventures as he navigates life in the jungle, but this reimagining touches on some real-world issues we’re all facing today — think climate change, environmental destruction and human displacement.

It’s not just the storytelling that’s different either. Akram Khan is known for blending classical Indian Kathak with contemporary dance, this production will do the same. Expect his signature choreography to breathe new life into the characters and the setting, promising a performance that resonates far beyond the jungle. The dance moves are paired with immersive digital projections and a haunting score that pulls you straight into this world.

Tickets are now live, with prices starting at AED 150 and going up to AED 250. You are also open to sitting in one of the boxes, which are priced at AED 500 and go up to AED 1,000.

So, if you’re a die-hard dance fan, someone who loves classic tales, or are simply looking for a fresh cultural experience in Abu Dhabi, Jungle Book Reimagined promises The Jungle Book experience through a whole new lens. This is one adventure you won’t want to miss.
