Desert adventurers, pack your bags and buckle up for a road trip. Liwa International Festival is making a banging return, promising an immersive experience that blends Emirati traditions with modern flair.
Taking place from 13 December, 2024 to 4, January 2025, the Liwa International Festival will be held at Tal Moreeb – the tallest dune in the UAE. The event promises weeks of non-stop excitement offering a unique experience for culture vultures and families. It’s also the first time it’s expected to run into 2025 which means expect New Year celebrations at the festival.
One highlight of the Liwa International Festival is Liwa Village, which will feature several zones. First up is the Liwa Village Souk, your go-to traditional Emirati marketplace. This is where you’ll find handicrafts that speak of the region’s rich heritage. Located nearby is the Night Oasis, which brings an interactive museum to the festival giving you a chance to truly immerse yourself in the experience. A Wanasa Zone will offer you and the little ones an opportunity to enjoy the petting zoo. With rides and an escape room on site, this is a must-visit spot for all ages.
Two new attractions making their way to Liwa International Festival are the Hollywood Circus and Shams Liwa Ferris Wheel. The circus will allow you to enjoy acrobatics with clowns, and magicians, whereas the ferris wheel will take you above, promising breathtaking views of Tal Moreeb. This starry experience is unlike any other.
Like always, food will also be on agenda, promising the finest flavours from the region. This is your chance to explore authentic Emirati cuisine on-site while you stroll under the stars in this majestic location.
Sports will also be at the forefront of celebrations at the Liwa International Festival. Expect the likes of camel racing, horse racing as well as falcon racing as part of the schedule. Additionally, motor sports such as Freestyle Drift, Buggy Torque Challenge, Bike Drag Racing, Monster Jam and Moreeb Car Dune Championship, amongst many others, will also be held.
On the entertainment front, the likes of Mutref Al Mutref, Mohammad Al Bakri, Hamad El Ameri, Aryam, Aseel Hameem and Mahmoud Turky will be taking to the stage. Abadi Al Johar and Rahma Riad will ring in the New Year celebrations at the Liwa International Festival with a firework display, making it a must-visit spot for a banging end to 2024.
In fact, fireworks will take place everyday throughout the festival at 8pm so you can witness the dazzle in the desert. Moreover, hot air balloon rides will also be available to elevate your experience. You’re also open to bringing your own tent or RV – or renting one on site – to truly immerse yourself.
